The fastest path to create smart cities is to make smart buildings with a connected, smart infrastructure. Creating a smart building infrastructure using on-site construction will be severely handicapped because of uncontrollable variables and non-repeatable processes. Digital twins, BIM-based operating technology, and an IoT sensor network all require a built environment where variables are controlled and measurable. This environment is ideally suited for Industrial Construction.
I plan on periodically releasing new sections to the original Industrial Construction Sandbox report. In this new section of the report, I want to dive deeper into smart buildings and how it should marry-up with industrialized construction.
