It’s no secret that there are few large acquisition targets (> $100 MN in enterprise value) in construction. However, the downstream market is seeing an explosion of promising “point solutions” being developed by the “ConTech” startup community. While these emerging startups provide ample opportunity for a seed-stage VC like Shadow Ventures, the relative immaturity of the construction tech ecosystem creates a murky landscape for strategic corporates seeking acquisitions and direct investments.
